Dr Victoria Williams
Why choose me as your therapist?

When a client comes to counselling feeling vulnerable or anxious the therapist's role is to offer a genuine relationship, empathy and unconditional acceptance. If the client perceives this then there will be positive change in the client.
As your therapist I will offer you unconditional acceptance, warmth, and a genuine non-judgmental relationship in our sessions together. I am 'non-directive', and you the client leads in the session.
I have experience working with a wide range of issues including low self-esteem and confidence, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, stress, trauma and abuse.
I believe that counselling should be completely non-discriminatory and as part of this belief I work with a LGBTQ+ affirmative approach. I have experience working with gender, sex and relationship diversity, trans and questioning people and their families.
I am also sensitive to issues surrounding neuro-diverse clients, ethnically diverse communities and culture as well as individuals’ religious beliefs.
I adhere to the BACP’s ethical framework for good practice, attend regular professional supervision and ensure I take part in continuing professional development training. I also have a clear Enhanced DBS Certificate.

I am a qualified Yoga teacher for adults, and also a specialist children and Teen Yoga teacher. I am also a qualified Yoga therapist specialising in working with anxiety and trauma.
I find it useful to sometimes use elements of somatic connection, mindfulness, breathing and relaxation techniques, psychoeducational aspects of polyvagal theory and neuroscience of anxiety within therapy sessions, where appropriate to aid clients.
In 2017 I travelled to Sierra Leone as an Ambassador for the TeenYoga Foundation to teach yoga for trauma to ex child soldiers.
